Carmen Munhequete is a seasoned development strategist and trusted advisor with more than 20 years of leadership experience across Africa. She has led groundbreaking work in climate adaptation, peacebuilding, food security, and rural development — with a sharp focus on inclusion, gender equity, and systemic change.

Her career spans senior roles with Oxfam, ActionAid, and UN agencies, alongside influential consultancy work for ERM, UNDP, WFP, UNICEF, UN Women, and the FAO. Carmen is known for her ability to navigate fragile and post-conflict contexts, bridging grassroots realities with global frameworks to drive long-term impact.

She holds Master's degrees in Rural Development (Eduardo Mondlane University) and Environmental Studies (University of Melbourne). As a lecturer and mentor, she continues to shape the next generation of changemakers while advising governments and development partners on institutional transformation, resilience strategies, and sustainable livelihoods.
